I bought mine in 1998 and it finally died a couple of days ago.
While I agree with the poster who mentioned the flashing light that doesn’t go away for the filter change, and I stopped using the filters a while ago (and actually event the clock and timer) at the end of the day, the machine is reliable. Yup, for 10 years day in and day out it has brewed a solid, tasty cup of coffee and frequently many a day, without fail. The replacement is already causing problems a couple of days in.

Customer Review: How many people does it take to make coffee??
Well, it took two of us and quite some time flipping through the pages to set up the clock and everything so we could just make a simple pot of coffee! This thing was so complicated!!! If the power goes out or God forbid someone unplugs it, there you go again! Drag out the manual and start reading!! I got it because it was cheap, black, and had a carafe to keep the coffee warm instead of burning up the coffee on a hot plate. One thing that I either failed to notice or they flat out did not tell you was that you CANNOT submerse the carafe to wash it! HUH?? After I used it once, I tucked it away for “emergency” use only! If it isn’t easy to clean, I don’t buyit! If you don’t mind a complecated set up or have a knack for those type things (which I obviously do not!) and don’t mind being careful when you wash it I would say it worked great and definitely did not burn the coffee.
Customer Review: Luke warm coffee just doesn’t cut it
I’ve been using this coffee maker for the past few years, and finally we’re upgrading to a Cuisinart. Every morning, we have to nuke our cups of coffee for at least 30 seconds to get it to an acceptable level of hot. That’s just not right. I don’t recommend this product.
